OVERVIEW

Ultimate Control for Professional Welders

For professional welders and fabricators, the finish is just as important as the weld itself. The Walter Allsteel™ Carbide Burr SA-1 (01W301) is your go-to solution for cleaning up welds, prepping joints, and deburring cut edges with ease. Unlike cheaper alternatives that bounce and chatter, this premium double-cut burr bites into the metal smoothly, giving you the control you need to shape your workpiece exactly how you want it.

The "Double Cut" design of the 01W301 is a game-changer for daily fabrication tasks. By incorporating left and right-hand flutes, the burr produces much smaller chips compared to single-cut bits. This means you spend less time dodging hot, sharp slivers and more time working. The smaller chips also prevent the burr from clogging up, which is essential when you are grinding through tough materials like stainless steel or heavy structural plate. The cylindrical SA-1 shape is perfect for getting into flat areas or smoothing out edges after a cut.

Walter Surface Technologies has crafted these burrs in the USA to withstand the rigors of the welding shop. The 1/4" shank fits all standard die grinders, and the high-quality carbide head holds its edge longer, saving you money on replacements. Whether you are beveling a plate for a V-groove or dressing a finished weld for painting, the Walter Allsteel burr delivers a smooth, professional result every time. Stop fighting your tools and start experiencing the difference that precision engineering makes in your daily grind.

Why Welders Choose Walter Burrs

  • Smooth Operation: Double cut flutes reduce "pulling" and chatter, making it easier to control.
  • Longer Life: Premium carbide stays sharp even on hardened heat-affected zones.
  • Cleaner Workspace: Produces granular chips instead of long, sharp needles.
  • Standard Fit: Fits securely in any 1/4" collet die grinder.

FAQ

Single cut burrs have one set of flutes and produce long chips, often used for general material removal. Double cut burrs, like this Walter 01W301, have cross-cut flutes that produce small chips, offer better control, reduce vibration, and leave a smoother finish.

While it can physically cut aluminum, it is not recommended. Double cut burrs tend to clog (load up) with soft non-ferrous metals like aluminum. For aluminum, you should use a dedicated 'Alu-Cut' or non-ferrous burr with wider flutes.

For a 1/4" diameter carbide burr, the recommended speed is typically between 20,000 and 25,000 RPM. Always refer to the specific speed charts provided by the manufacturer for the material you are working on.

While the shank may fit, standard drills usually do not spin fast enough (often maxing out at 2,000-3,000 RPM) to use a carbide burr effectively. Carbide burrs require high speeds (die grinders) to cut properly; low speeds can cause chipping and tool failure.

The Allsteel™ line is specifically engineered for ferrous metals, including mild steel, structural steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.

SA-1 refers to the standard industry shape and size code. 'SA' indicates a cylindrical shape without an end cut, and the number '1' typically denotes a 1/4" diameter by 5/8" length of cut on a 1/4" shank.

Generally, carbide burrs are used dry. However, using a lubricant like Walter Coolcut can sometimes help improve the finish and extend tool life by keeping the temperature down, especially on stainless steel.

This product is meticulously crafted in the USA, ensuring high standards of quality and consistency.
