OVERVIEW

Precision Deburring with Walter Allsteel™ SD-6 Carbide Burrs

Upgrade your metal finishing capabilities with the Walter Allsteel™ SD-6 Carbide Burr, a premium rotary file designed to make tough deburring jobs feel effortless. In the demanding world of welding and fabrication, having a reliable burr that doesn't dull after a few minutes is essential. The 01W311 model features a versatile ball-shaped head, allowing you to get into tight curves, round out holes, and smooth concave welds with ease. Proudly made in the USA, these burrs are built for professional fabricators who demand longevity, precision, and safety from their consumables.

The "Double Cut" design is a true game-changer for operator comfort and finish quality. Unlike single-cut burrs that can jump, chatter, or pull the grinder out of your hands, the cross-cut pattern of the Allsteel™ series breaks down chips into tiny, manageable particles. This prevents the flutes from clogging with debris and gives you smooth, stable handling, even when removing heavy stock or widening a root pass. You get the job done faster with significantly less hand fatigue, allowing for more precise control over the final appearance of your work.

Durability is at the core of the Walter Allsteel™ line. Constructed from high-grade tungsten carbide, this burr holds its cutting edge far longer than standard high-speed steel alternatives. It is specifically engineered to tackle the hardness of stainless steel and structural steel without overheating or chipping prematurely. By investing in a high-quality balanced tool, you also protect your die grinder from the wear and tear caused by the vibration of inferior, unbalanced bits. Whether you are prepping a joint or cleaning up a finished fabrication, the Walter SD-6 delivers the performance you need to keep your production line moving.

Why Choose Walter Allsteel™ Burrs?

  • Smooth Operation: Precision CNC grinding reduces vibration, saving your hands and extending the life of your grinder.
  • Superior Finish: Double-cut flutes leave a smoother surface, often reducing the need for secondary sanding or polishing steps.
  • Versatile Shaping: The 5/8" ball shape is the perfect problem-solver for rounding edges, blending radii, and working inside pipes or channels.
  • American Made Quality: Trust in consistent manufacturing standards that ensure every burr performs as well as the last.

FAQ

The SD-6 is a ball-shaped burr. It is primarily used for contouring, deburring holes, milling concave surfaces, and blending fillet welds where a round profile is required.

Double Cut refers to the flute pattern on the burr. It has flutes cut in two directions (cross-cut), which creates smaller chips, reduces clogging, and provides a smoother finish with better operator control compared to single cut burrs.

It is not recommended. Double cut burrs can easily clog when used on soft, non-ferrous metals like aluminum. For aluminum, you should use a burr with an 'Alu-Cut' or non-ferrous single cut design to prevent loading.

This burr has a standard 1/4-inch shank, making it compatible with most industrial pneumatic and electric die grinders.

The head diameter of the SD-6 burr is 5/8 of an inch.

No. Tungsten carbide is extremely hard but brittle. You should avoid subjecting the burr to impact loads or dropping the tool, as the teeth or head may chip or shatter.

The Walter Allsteel™ line is specifically designed for use on steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous alloys.

The Walter Allsteel™ carbide burrs, including the 01W311, are proudly made in the USA.
