OVERVIEW

Heavy-Duty Grinding for Professional Fabricators

For professional welders and fabricators, a reliable carbide burr is as essential as the torch itself. The Walter 01V051 Carbide Burr SL-2 DC is built to tackle the toughest grinding jobs in the shop, from prepping joints to cleaning up heavy weld spatter. When you are working with stubborn materials like stainless steel or hardened alloys, you need a tool that bites rather than bounces. This burr features a premium tungsten carbide construction that cuts cleaner and lasts significantly longer than cheap abrasive stones or lower-grade bits, saving you money on replacements and downtime.

The "Double Cut" design is a game-changer for daily fabrication work. Single-cut burrs can sometimes grab the material, causing the tool to jump or "walk" across the surface, which ruins your finish and strains your wrists. The Walter Double Cut pattern creates smaller chips, providing a smooth, manageable cutting action that gives you total control. This makes it perfect for delicate tasks like enlarging bolt holes that are slightly out of alignment or deburring fresh cuts before welding. The SL-2 shape (a tapered cone with a rounded nose) is incredibly versatile, allowing you to grind inside pipes, smooth out corner welds, and reach into tight spots where a standard angle grinder wheel simply won't fit.

Durability is at the core of the Walter brand. This burr is designed to resist heat buildup, which is the primary killer of cutting tools. Whether you are beveling edges for better weld penetration or finishing a visible joint for a polished look, the 01V051 delivers consistent performance. It clears chips effectively to prevent clogging, ensuring that you spend more time working and less time cleaning your tools. Add this industrial-grade rotary file to your arsenal and experience the difference that precision manufacturing makes in your daily grind.

FAQ

The SL-2 shape is a Taper with a Radius End (often called a cone with a ball nose). It is ideal for grinding in tight corners, contouring rounded surfaces, and accessing confined areas that cylindrical burrs cannot reach.

Double Cut refers to the flute pattern on the burr. It features two sets of flutes cutting across each other (diamond pattern), which breaks chips into small granules. This results in smoother operation, less vibration, and a finer finish compared to single cut burrs.

It is not recommended. Double cut burrs tend to clog (load up) quickly when used on soft, non-ferrous metals like aluminum. For aluminum, an 'Aluminum Cut' or 'Single Cut' with wide flutes is preferred.

The Walter 01V051 is designed primarily for ferrous metals, including mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened steel alloys.

High concentricity ensures the burr spins perfectly true. This prevents 'chatter' (vibration), which extends the life of the burr, protects the die grinder's bearings, and reduces operator fatigue.

This burr is designed for use with pneumatic or electric die grinders. Ensure your grinder's collet matches the shank size of the burr and is capable of the appropriate RPM.

Generally, carbide burrs can be used dry. However, using a suitable lubricant or wax can sometimes help prevent loading and extend tool life, especially on stickier materials, though it is not strictly necessary for steel.

Do not apply excessive pressure; let the tool do the work. excessive pressure causes heat buildup and can chip the flutes. Also, ensure the burr is inserted fully into the collet to prevent shank bending.
