OVERVIEW

Maximize Efficiency on Your Cutting Table

For fabricators and metalworkers running automated cutting tables, speed and cut quality are the primary drivers of profitability. The ESAB Oxweld 1566HS Size 2 1/2 Nozzle is designed to deliver exactly that. If your shop utilizes Propane or Natural Gas for machine cutting, this two-piece tip is the upgrade you need to handle 2-1/2 inch thick steel plate with confidence. Unlike standard hand-cutting tips, the 1566HS (High Speed) series is engineered to sustain higher travel speeds—up to 17 inches per minute—allowing you to complete jobs faster and move on to the next project without sacrificing edge quality.

One of the biggest challenges with alternate fuels like propane is getting enough heat into the plate quickly to start the cut. This Oxweld nozzle solves that problem with its "High Preheat" design. The heavy preheat flame ensures that starts are instantaneous and that the cut remains stable even when traversing through mill scale or rust. The two-piece construction allows for easy cleaning and maintenance; the internal spline can be separated from the shell to clear out any carbon buildup or debris, extending the life of the consumable and ensuring consistent gas flow shift after shift.

Using the right nozzle also means less time spent on the grinder. The 1566HS Size 2 1/2 produces a clean, narrow kerf with minimal slag on the bottom edge of the plate. This means parts come off the table ready for welding or assembly with little to no secondary preparation required. The nozzle operates at a cutting oxygen pressure of 90 PSIG, driving a powerful stream that blows through 2.5-inch steel cleanly. With low fuel gas pressure requirements (3-5 PSIG), it integrates easily with most shop manifold systems without requiring special high-pressure regulators for the fuel line.

Whether you are cutting parts for heavy machinery, structural steel, or general fabrication, trusting genuine Oxweld consumables ensures your machine torch operates at peak performance. This nozzle is a direct fit for Oxweld machine torches and is built to withstand the high-heat environment of continuous cutting. Invest in the 1566HS series to get the most out of your alternate fuel setup, reducing gas costs while maintaining the high-quality cuts your customers expect.

FAQ

This nozzle is designed for use with alternate fuels, specifically Natural Gas and Propane. It is not suitable for Acetylene.

The Size 2 1/2 nozzle has a cutting capacity of approximately 2 1/2 inches (64 mm) of steel plate.

For optimal performance, the Cutting Oxygen should be set to 90 PSIG, and the Preheat Oxygen should be set between 25 and 55 PSIG.

The fuel gas pressure should be set between 3 and 5 PSIG for both Natural Gas and Propane.

This High-Speed (HS) series nozzle supports cutting speeds of 10 to 17 inches per minute, depending on the plate condition and gas settings.

This is a two-piece tip, consisting of an outer shell and an internal brass spline, which is the standard design for alternate fuel nozzles.

While it may physically fit some torches, the 1566HS series is specifically designed for machine cutting applications where travel speed and standoff distance are mechanically controlled.

The nozzle consumes Total Oxygen at a rate of 275-295 CFH and Fuel Gas at a rate of 8-15 CFH.
