The MFA-12 Heating Head is a premium aftermarket replacement compatible with Victor 300 and 310 series heavy-duty torch handles. This multi-flame nozzle, commonly designated as a Type MFA, is specifically engineered for Oxy-Acetylene gas service. It features a multi-port face that produces a stable, high-intensity flame pattern, optimizing BTU transfer for heavy fabrication tasks.
Operational Considerations: The Size 12 tip requires substantial gas flow. Operators must ensure their acetylene supply is sufficient to prevent the "withdrawal rate" from exceeding 1/7th of the cylinder capacity (or 1/10th for conservative safety), often necessitating the manifolding of cylinders to safely sustain the flame. Starving a tip of this size can lead to backfires or flashbacks. The tip is constructed with a heavy copper shell to dissipate heat effectively, reducing the risk of overheating during prolonged use.
This nozzle is ideal for MRO and fabrication environments requiring localized heat treatment, such as normalizing welds or hot-forming metal. The threaded coupling ensures a tight seal with the mixer assembly of compatible heavy-duty handles. It is not compatible with propane or natural gas; use Type MFN tips for alternate fuels to ensure proper flame stability and safety.
