The Miller Smith NE180-00 is a specialized air/acetylene tip designed for the NE180A torch handle platform. This "Super Fine" tip represents the smallest orifice size in the NE180 series, designated for applications requiring minimal heat input and maximum flame localization. It produces a nominal heat output of 720 BTUs, making it unsuitable for general brazing of large copper pipes but indispensable for micro-joining operations in metallurgy and electronics.

Technically, the tip operates on a single-gas input system where acetylene is fed through the handle and mixed with air drawn in through the tip's intake ports. This air-acetylene mix burns cleaner than propane for certain applications and provides a more concentrated heat zone. The NE180-00 is constructed with a brass body and a stainless steel flame tube, ensuring resistance to corrosion and heat deformation. The critical component, the gas orifice (Model L710-6), is precision-drilled to control gas velocity and flame shape. This orifice is user-replaceable, allowing for field maintenance and extended product lifecycle.

Operators should note that this tip is strictly compatible with the Smith NE180A handle found in Handi-Heet and Silver Smith kits. It is not compatible with standard "Quickbraze" handles or larger oxy-fuel torch bodies. Proper seating of the tip into the handle is crucial to prevent gas leaks and ensure the venturi system functions correctly.
