The NR-232 is a self-shielded flux-core wire, meaning you don't have to drag gas bottles up the column or worry about the wind blowing your coverage away. It runs on DC- (straight polarity) and features a fast-freezing slag that acts like a shelf, holding the puddle in place when you are welding out of position. While it has a reputation for being particular about settings, once you dial in your voltage and get your electrical stickout (ESO) right—typically around 3/4" to 1"—it runs smooth and produces a flat, professional bead profile with deep penetration.
