OVERVIEW

Keep Your Oxy-Fuel Setup Safe

Safety is the number one priority when working with oxy-fuel torches, and the ESAB CV-7 Check Valve is your first line of defense against dangerous gas backflow. When pressures change unexpectedly, gas can sometimes travel back up the hose, creating a hazardous mixture. This check valve acts like a one-way street for your Oxygen, allowing it to flow to your torch but slamming shut the moment any back-pressure tries to push it the other way.

This specific valve is designed for the Oxygen side of your setup, indicated by its Right-Hand threads (remember: Right for Oxygen, Left for Fuel). It features a standard B-Size fitting (9/16"-18), which is the most common size for welding regulators and hoses in North America. The female thread connection makes it easy to attach directly to your regulator outlet or compatible hose fittings.

Don't take chances with your equipment. Installing a high-quality ESAB check valve is a simple, low-cost way to protect yourself and your gear. The solid brass construction means it's built to last, giving you peace of mind whether you are cutting steel in the shop or doing repairs in the field. Ensure your flow direction is correct during installation and enjoy a safer welding experience.

FAQ

A check valve only prevents the reverse flow of gas. A flashback arrestor prevents both reverse flow and extinguishes a flame front (flashback). Check valves are a minimum safety requirement, but flashback arrestors offer higher protection.

This specific unit (639720) is for Oxygen. It has Right-Hand (RH) threads. Fuel gas models typically use Left-Hand (LH) threads.

The threads are B-Size, which corresponds to 9/16"-18. This is the standard size for most industrial oxy-fuel regulators and hoses.

This model has a female thread, which typically attaches to the male outlet of a regulator. Always check the flow direction arrow on the valve to ensure correct orientation.

Industry standards often recommend testing check valves at least once a year and replacing them every 3 to 5 years, or immediately if they fail a reverse-flow test.

All check valves introduce a minor pressure drop, but the ESAB CV-7 is designed to provide sufficient flow for standard cutting and welding applications without significant performance loss.

While the brass is compatible, this unit is threaded Right-Hand for Oxygen. You cannot connect it to standard Propane (fuel) fittings which are Left-Hand. You need a fuel-specific check valve.
