OVERVIEW

Maximize Performance with Lincoln Magnum PRO Aluminum Contact Tips

Welding aluminum presents a unique set of challenges, from wire softness to rapid heat expansion. To conquer these issues and keep your production line moving, you need consumables designed specifically for the task. The Lincoln Electric KP2744-116A-B100 Magnum PRO Contact Tips are the professional's choice for 1/16-inch (1.6 mm) aluminum welding. This 100-pack bulk supply ensures that your shop is always stocked and ready for heavy fabrication jobs, whether you are building boat hulls, aluminum trailers, or specialized industrial components.

What sets these tips apart is the legendary Copper Plus® technology. Lincoln Electric has formulated a special alloy that handles heat far better than standard copper tips. When you are running long welds at high amperages, ordinary tips can overheat, soften, and wear out quickly, causing the wire to snag or the arc to stutter. The Copper Plus® alloy stays harder and cooler for longer, delivering a smooth, consistent arc that helps you lay down perfect beads every time. Furthermore, the 'A' style design means the internal bore is slightly oversized. Since aluminum expands significantly as it heats up, this extra room prevents the wire from jamming inside the tip—a common headache known as 'birdnesting' that can ruin a welder's day.

Designed for the rugged Magnum® PRO series MIG guns, these contact tips feature a flattened thread design that prevents seizing. We've all been there—trying to remove a fused contact tip with pliers while the gun is still hot. The Magnum PRO design minimizes this risk, allowing for quick, tool-free changes when necessary. By investing in the KP2744-116A-B100 100-pack, you aren't just buying metal; you are buying efficiency. Fewer tip changes mean more arc-on time, less frustration for your operators, and better quality welds on your aluminum projects. Upgrade your consumables and experience the difference that precision engineering makes.

FAQ

The 'A' indicates that the contact tip is specifically designed for Aluminum wire. It features a slightly larger internal bore compared to standard steel tips to accommodate the greater thermal expansion of aluminum as it heats up.

It is not recommended. While the wire would physically fit, the bore is oversized for 1/16" steel wire. This loose fit can lead to poor electrical contact, micro-arcing inside the tip, and an unstable arc.

Copper Plus is a proprietary Lincoln Electric alloy that provides higher thermal conductivity and retains hardness at higher temperatures than standard copper. This prevents the tip from softening and keyholing, resulting in longer tip life.

These tips are compatible with Lincoln Electric Magnum® PRO series MIG guns, including semi-automatic hand guns and robotic torch models.

This is a bulk package containing 100 individual contact tips (Part number suffix -B100).

This tip is sized for 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) welding wire.

They use the Magnum PRO specific coarse thread design, which helps prevent cross-threading and seizing, and improves heat transfer to the diffuser.

Aluminum wire is softer and expands more than steel. Using a standard tip can cause the wire to bind (burnback) or feed erratically. These tips are engineered to prevent those specific issues.
