The Miller 079609 Drive Roll Kit is engineered specifically for industrial welding applications utilizing 1/16-inch (1.6 mm) flux-cored or metal-cored wires. This kit is compatible with Miller wire feeders and MIG power sources equipped with a 2-roll drive assembly. The centerpiece of this kit is the VK-Groove (V-Knurled) drive roll design, which addresses the specific challenges associated with feeding tubular welding consumables.

The VK-Groove Advantage
Tubular wires, such as self-shielded flux-core (FCAW-S) or gas-shielded flux-core (FCAW-G), have a thin metal sheath filled with flux. Because they are structurally softer than solid wires, they are prone to deformation if excessive drive roll tension is applied. Standard V-groove rolls often require high tension to prevent slipping, which can crush the wire and cause feeding issues downstream in the liner or contact tip. The VK-Groove rolls in this kit feature a serrated or knurled texture that mechanically grips the wire surface.
