Feeding soft aluminum wire through a MIG torch presents unique challenges, primarily due to the wire's lack of column strength. The ESAB Red PTFE Liner (Part #326P204035) is engineered to solve these problems. Made from low-friction PTFE, this liner minimizes drag inside the cable assembly, allowing the drive rolls to push the wire smoothly without the excessive force that causes bird-nesting at the feeder or burn-back at the tip.

Technical Specifications

This liner is sized for 1.0mm to 1.2mm (0.040" - 0.045") wires. The red coding follows industry standards for this diameter range, preventing cross-contamination or incorrect installation. While primarily used for aluminum, PTFE liners are also excellent for stainless steel and silicon bronze wires, where preserving the wire surface finish and preventing contamination from a steel liner is important.

Installation and Maintenance

Proper installation is key to performance. When installing this PTFE liner, ensure it is cut to the correct length with a sharp blade to avoid compressing the internal diameter. It is recommended to use a collet or brass neck liner at the front end if your torch design supports it, to prevent the PTFE from melting near the high-heat zone of the gas diffuser.
