OVERVIEW

Technical Precision for Aluminum Push-Pull Systems

The Lincoln KP4800-15 Magnum PRO Push Pull Fixed Conduit Liner represents a critical solution for the technical challenges associated with Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) of aluminum. Aluminum filler metals, such as 4043 and 5356 alloys, possess low column strength, making them susceptible to buckling and shaving when pushed through standard liners. The KP4800-15 is engineered with a specialized low-friction composition and a fixed conduit architecture that minimizes drag coefficient within the weld path. This reduction in friction is vital for maintaining a constant wire feed speed (WFS), which directly correlates to arc stability and penetration profile.

Designed specifically for the Magnum PRO AL Push Pull Guns, this 15-foot liner facilitates the synchronized operation of the feeder and gun motors. In a push-pull system, the liner must support the wire without adding excessive resistance that could desynchronize the motors or cause wire deformation. The KP4800-15 provides a smooth, continuous channel that protects the soft aluminum surface from abrasion. This is particularly important because aluminum shavings can accumulate in the liner or at the drive rolls, leading to electrical conductivity issues or mechanical jams. By utilizing this purpose-built liner, operators can significantly extend the service life of their gun and consumables.

Compatibility and Installation:
One of the key technical advantages of the KP4800-15 is its broad compatibility profile. It is designed to be backwards compatible with all iterations of the Magnum PRO AL Push Pull Gun series. This simplifies inventory management for shops running multiple generations of Lincoln Electric equipment. Installation is straightforward, adhering to standard maintenance procedures for fixed conduit replacement. The liner is sized for 15-foot cable assemblies, ensuring a precise fit that eliminates gaps where wire buckling could occur.

For industrial MRO professionals and welding engineers, specifying the correct liner is a low-cost, high-impact variable in the welding procedure specification (WPS). Using the KP4800-15 ensures that the equipment meets the rigorous demands of high-duty-cycle aluminum welding applications. It effectively bridges the gap between the wire feeder and the workpiece, delivering the filler metal with the precision required for code-quality aluminum welds.

FAQ

The KP4800-15 is designed for use with Lincoln Electric Magnum PRO AL Push Pull Guns. It is backwards compatible and can be installed in any version of these specific push-pull guns.

While it is physically possible, it is not recommended. This liner is specifically designed to reduce friction for soft aluminum wires. Steel wires are abrasive and will wear out this polymer-style liner much faster than a standard steel liner.

This liner is 15 feet long, matching the standard cable length of many Magnum PRO AL Push Pull gun assemblies.

Aluminum wire is much softer than steel and has lower column strength. A special low-friction liner like the KP4800-15 prevents the wire from buckling (bird-nesting) and shaving as it travels through the cable.

Liner life depends on usage volume and shop conditions. However, for aluminum welding, it is critical to change the liner if you notice erratic feeding, arc instability, or if the wire becomes difficult to push through by hand.

This product is the replacement liner only. The Magnum PRO AL Push Pull Gun is sold separately.

The KP4800-15 is a Fixed Conduit liner, designed to stay stationary within the cable assembly to provide a consistent path for the wire.

Yes, the material and design of the KP4800-15 are specifically intended to minimize friction, which significantly reduces the shaving of soft aluminum wire compared to improper liners.
