Every welder knows that safety starts at the source. The Western Enterprises CV-31L Check Valve is your first line of defense against reverse gas flow at the regulator level. Backflow can occur when a tip becomes clogged or when one cylinder empties while the other is still feeding, potentially pushing gas back up the hose. This check valve installs directly on your fuel gas regulator's outlet bushing, stopping reverse flow before it can contaminate your regulator or cylinder.
The CV-31L is precision-machined from brass and features standard B-Size (9/16"-18 UNF) Left Hand threads, making it compatible with the vast majority of acetylene and fuel gas regulators used in North America. Unlike some restrictive safety devices, this valve is engineered to provide full flow, rated at 1200 SCFH at 50 PSIG. This means you won't experience flame starvation or pressure drops at the torch, even during heavy cutting applications.
Installation is straightforward using the 11/16" hex body. The valve is designed to be easily seen and inspected, and because it is mounted at the regulator rather than the torch, it is less subject to the abuse, heat, and contamination that torch-mounted arrestors often face. Note that while this is a check valve (non-return valve), it is not a flashback arrestor; it stops gas flow but does not extinguish a flame front. For complete protection, it is often used in conjunction with appropriate safety protocols and equipment.
