Don't Let Gas Mix in Your Hoses

When you are under the hood or handling a torch, the last thing you want to worry about is gas backing up into your lines. The Victor H-16 Back Pressure Check Valve is your cheap insurance policy against one of the most common hazards in oxy-fuel cutting: reverse flow. If you accidentally starve your torch, run a tank dry, or clog a tip with spatter, pressure can build up and push gas back down the wrong hose. If oxygen mixes with fuel in your line, you have created a potential bomb. These H-16 valves screw right onto your torch handle to stop that from happening.

Installation is a breeze. These valves come with standard B-size fittings (that's the 9/16"-18 thread found on almost every standard torch from Victor, Miller, Harris, and others). You just tighten them onto the torch inlets before you attach your hoses. They are marked so you know which one is for fuel (left-hand thread groove) and which is for oxygen (right-hand thread), preventing any mix-ups during setup. They are made of solid brass, so they can take a beating in the shop or on the truck without failing.

A lot of welders ask, "Do I need these if I have regulators?" The answer is yes. Regulators control pressure, but they don't always stop back-flow at the torch level. By putting the H-16 right at the torch, you stop the problem at the source. Keep in mind, these are check valves, not flashback arrestors—they stop the gas, not the fire—but they are the critical first step in keeping your setup safe.
