The 45V45 is designed to solve common shielding issues by rectifying the flow of argon gas as it exits the torch. Unlike standard collet bodies that can create turbulent gas patterns, this gas lens features a precision mesh screen that organizes the gas into a laminar stream. This results in a broader, more stable protective envelope around the weld pool.

The practical advantage of this laminar flow is twofold: improved weld quality and enhanced versatility. The stable gas column is less susceptible to being blown away by minor drafts, ensuring consistent coverage even in less-than-ideal shop conditions. Furthermore, the coherent stream allows the operator to extend the tungsten electrode significantly further than with a conventional setup.
