Designed for the heavy-duty Crafter Series 310 (CS310) and W-310 water-cooled torches, this short back cap transforms the profile of your torch. Standard long back caps are excellent for holding full-length tungsten, but they can be a hindrance when you are welding inside a manifold, a roll cage, or a tight pipe cluster. This short cap allows the back of the torch to clear obstructions that would otherwise make the weld impossible.
This convenient 2-pack ensures you always have a spare in your toolbox. TIG back caps are subject to heat stress and mechanical wear, and the threads can eventually degrade or the cap can be dropped and cracked. Having a backup ready means you don't have to stop your work to source a replacement. Furthermore, each cap includes the essential 98W77 O-Ring. A fresh O-ring is critical for preventing atmospheric contamination of your shielding gas. If you are experiencing unexplained porosity or your tungsten is turning black/blue despite good gas flow at the regulator, a faulty back cap seal is often the culprit.
Usage Note: Because this is a short back cap, it requires the use of shorter tungsten electrodes. You will need to cut your tungsten down to size to fit within the shallow depth of the cap.
