The Weldcraft 40V64 is a standard 12.5-foot (3.8 meter) power cable assembly designed for the WP-18 series of water-cooled TIG torches. In water-cooled TIG applications, the power cable is a critical component that houses the copper conductor within a hose, simultaneously transporting the welding current to the torch head and carrying the heated coolant away from the torch back to the water cooler or recirculator. The 40V64 utilizes a vinyl hose material, which provides a balance of durability and cost-effectiveness compared to braided rubber alternatives.
Rated for a maximum output of 350 Amps at 100% duty cycle, this cable is built to sustain high-amperage welding arcs typically used in heavy industrial fabrication, such as thick-section aluminum or structural steel welding. The vinyl insulation is non-conductive and resistant to common shop fluids, including coolants and oils. The cable features standard industry fittings: a threaded connection for the torch body and a lug or adapter connection for the power source/water cooler interface (adapter sold separately if not already present on the machine).
Replacing a power cable is often necessary when the internal copper strands fracture from repeated bending (leading to hot spots) or when the hose develops leaks. The 40V64 is the OEM replacement for Weldcraft WP-18, WP-18V, and WP-18SC torches but is also cross-compatible with most 18-series torches from brands like CK Worldwide (referencing part number 312PC) and Lincoln Electric. Proper installation ensures optimal coolant flow and prevents overheating of the torch head.
