The Weldcraft 45V64 is a large diameter gas lens collet body designed for use with 3/32-inch (2.4mm) tungsten electrodes. It is engineered for compatibility with the industry-standard 17, 18, and 26 series TIG torches (including WP-17, WP-18, WP-26, and their valve/flex counterparts). This component serves as a direct replacement for standard collet bodies but offers significantly enhanced performance characteristics regarding gas fluid dynamics.
Standard collet bodies often produce a turbulent gas exit profile, which can aspirate atmospheric air into the weld zone if the stick-out is too long or the torch angle is aggressive. The 45V64 utilizes a precision mesh screen assembly to rectify this flow, creating a laminar stream of shielding gas. This laminar column is stiffer and more resistant to cross-drafts, providing a wider and more reliable envelope of protection around the weld pool. This is particularly critical when welding reactive alloys such as Titanium, Stainless Steel, or Inconel, where even minor atmospheric contamination can lead to immediate weld failure or discoloration.
Constructed from high-grade copper and brass, the 45V64 ensures excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, maintaining the duty cycle ratings of your torch setup. To utilize this large gas lens, welders must pair it with the appropriate large diameter alumina nozzles (typically the 57N series) and the correct insulator (54N63) to ensure proper fitment on the torch head.
