At the core of this kit are the 2% Ceriated tungsten electrodes. Ceriated tungsten is a non-radioactive alternative to thoriated tungsten and is favored for its ability to start arcs easily at low amperages. It performs exceptionally well in both DC electrode negative (DCEN) settings for steel and stainless steel, as well as AC settings for aluminum and magnesium. The 7-inch electrodes included come in 1/16", 3/32", and 1/8" diameters, covering the vast majority of general welding applications. This flexibility allows operators to switch between delicate, thin-gauge work and heavier structural welding without changing the tungsten type.

In addition to the electrodes, the AK3C kit supplies the necessary hardware to secure and shield the tungsten.
