OVERVIEW

Premium Performance for Heavy-Duty Metal Removal

Arcair Jetrods® / CutSkill® DC Jointed Gouging Electrodes (Part #24064003) set the standard for air carbon-arc gouging performance. These 3/8" diameter rods are formulated with a precise mixture of carbon and synthetic graphite, producing the most efficient metal removal rates in the industry. Designed for use with DCEP (Direct Current Electrode Positive) polarity, they operate optimally within an amperage range of 450 to 600 Amps. The high-density composition ensures that the rod maintains its diameter at the point of the arc, creating uniform U-grooves that are essential for quality weld preparation and repair.

The defining feature of this consumable is its jointed (socketed) construction. Each 17-inch rod is machined with a male and female end, allowing you to mate a new rod to the existing one while the torch is still in operation. This eliminates the need to stop and discard a 3-inch stub, effectively giving you 100% consumable utilization. The heavy copper coating improves arc starting characteristics and arc stability while reducing the erosion of the rod from the side, focusing the energy directly into the groove.

Operational Specs:

  • Diameter: 3/8" (9.5 mm)
  • Length: 17" (432 mm)
  • Current Type: Direct Current (DC)
  • Polarity: Reverse (DCEP)
  • Amperage: 450 - 600 A

These electrodes are compatible with standard air carbon-arc torches (such as the K4000 or K3000) and require a compressed air supply (typically 80-100 psi) to blast away the molten metal. Ideal for gouging mild steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, and cast iron, Arcair jointed rods provide the cool operation and aggressive removal rates professional gougers demand.

FAQ

The recommended operating range is 450 to 600 Amps.

The jointed design allows electrodes to be connected end-to-end, eliminating stub loss and allowing for continuous gouging without stopping to reload.

These are designed for DCEP (Direct Current Electrode Positive), also known as Reverse Polarity.

Yes, they are double-dipped in a copper coating to improve conductivity, arc stability, and reduce heat buildup.

This product comes in a box containing 100 electrodes.

Yes, carbon arc gouging can be used on stainless steel, as well as mild steel, cast iron, and copper alloys.

Each electrode is 17 inches long.

Yes, the air carbon-arc process requires compressed air (typically 80-100 psi) to blow away the molten metal created by the arc.
