OVERVIEW

Keep Your Flame Burning with a Reliable Acetylene Gauge

A broken gauge on your acetylene regulator isn't just an annoyance; it's a guess-work game you don't want to play. The 50mm 400 PSI Steel Gauge is the solid, no-nonsense replacement you need to get your rig back up to spec. Designed to read the contents of your acetylene tank, this gauge gives you a clear view of how much fuel you have left so you aren't caught empty in the middle of a cut. With a range up to 400 PSI, it easily covers the standard ~250 PSI pressure of a full acetylene cylinder with plenty of headroom.

We know welding gear takes a beating. That's why this gauge features a tough steel case rather than cheap plastic. It can handle the bumps, scrapes, and heat of the shop floor. The 50mm (2-inch) face is the standard size for most regulators, big enough to read easily but small enough to stay out of your way. The "Red" marking helps you instantly identify it as your fuel gauge, keeping your setup safe and organized. Whether you are fixing up an old Victor, Harris, or generic regulator, if it needs a 400 PSI gauge with a back mount, this is the part.

Don't let a cracked lens or a stuck needle slow you down. Swapping out a gauge is one of the easiest repairs you can do to extend the life of your regulator. Just ensure you use the proper thread sealant (compatible with fuel gas) and tighten it down. This gauge is built for the long haul, giving you accurate readings so you can focus on laying beads and cutting steel.

Why Choose This Replacement?

  • Tough Build: Steel case protects the internals from shop abuse.
  • Perfect Fit: Standard 50mm size fits most regulator bodies.
  • Clear Readings: High-contrast numbers make checking gas levels a breeze.
  • Safety First: Proper pressure monitoring prevents running tanks too low.

FAQ

Most 50mm (2-inch) welding gauges typically use a 1/4" NPT or 1/8" NPT thread. Please verify your regulator's port size before ordering, though 1/4" NPT is very common for this dial size.

This gauge is rated for 400 PSI, which is the standard range for Acetylene Cylinder (contents) gauges. Oxygen cylinder gauges require a much higher range (usually 3000 or 4000 PSI). Do not use this on high-pressure oxygen cylinders.

LBM stands for Lower Back Mount. This indicates that the threaded connection stem comes out of the back of the gauge case, near the lower edge or center, rather than from the bottom of the circle.

While the pressure range (400 PSI) is sufficient for Propane cylinder pressure, you must ensure the materials are compatible. Generally, acetylene gauges are compatible with other fuel gases, but always check local safety codes regarding color coding and labeling.

A steel case provides superior durability and impact resistance compared to plastic or thin brass cases, making it suitable for industrial environments where equipment may be subjected to rough handling.

Ensure the system is depressurized. Remove the old gauge using a wrench on the brass stem (never twist the case). Apply a small amount of PTFE tape or paste approved for gas service to the threads of the new gauge, and tighten it into the port until snug and oriented correctly.

A full acetylene cylinder typically reads approximately 250 PSI at 70°F. This 400 PSI gauge places that reading near the middle-upper range of the dial for easy visibility.

The description indicates 'RED', which usually means the face has red markings or a red zone to indicate it is for Fuel Gas service, distinguishing it from Green (Oxygen) gauges.
