The Tweco SMGC300 is a professional-grade switchable magnetic ground clamp designed to provide a low-resistance earth connection for welding applications up to 300 Amps. Engineered for versatility, this unit replaces traditional spring-loaded or screw-type clamps in situations where edge access is limited or impossible.

Technical Performance

The core of the SMGC300 is a high-flux magnetic assembly controlled by a manual rotary switch. When activated, the magnet secures the device firmly to ferromagnetic materials, ensuring consistent contact pressure. This pressure is vital for maintaining low contact resistance, preventing overheating at the ground point, and ensuring a stable welding arc. The unit is rated for a 300A duty cycle, making it suitable for MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.

Versatile Application

The contact face features a machined V-groove, allowing the clamp to seat securely on both flat surfaces (plate, beams) and round surfaces (pipe, tubing). This dual-geometry design eliminates the need for multiple grounding tools. The switchable nature of the magnet also serves a maintenance function: by deactivating the magnet, accumulated ferrous particulates and grinding swarf are released, preventing the buildup that typically degrades the performance of static magnetic grounds.
