OVERVIEW

Clear Vision for Better Welds: Speedglas 9000 Series Outer Lens

You can't weld what you can't see. If you are still rocking a Speedglas 9000 or 9002 series helmet, you know it's a workhorse, but the view is only as good as your cover lens. The 3M Speedglas 02-0270-01 Outside Protection Plate is the standard replacement clear lens you need to keep your view crisp and your puddle control tight. Over time, welding spatter, soot, and scratches build up on your front lens, turning your high-definition view into a cloudy mess. Swapping out this plate is the single cheapest and most effective way to make your old helmet feel brand new again.

Protect Your Investment

Your Auto-Darkening Filter (ADF) is the most expensive part of your welding hood. This thin piece of polycarbonate is the bodyguard for that lens. If you let your outer plate get too damaged, hot spatter can actually burn through or transfer enough heat to damage the liquid crystal display or the sensors behind it. Once the sensors are blocked by dirt or scratches, your helmet might stop darkening reliably, leading to arc flash. Don't risk your eyes or your gear—change the plate as soon as it becomes pitted or difficult to see through. This 10-pack ensures you always have a spare in your toolbox when you need it most.

Quick and Easy Replacement

The Speedglas 9000 series is famous for its slim profile and reliability, and changing the lens is straightforward. The 02-0270-01 plates are designed to snap perfectly into the front bezel of 9002X, 9002V, and older 9000 models. You don't need any tools; just pop the old one out and snap the new one in. The fit is precise, creating a seal that keeps smoke and dust from getting between the cover lens and the ADF.

Why Buy the 10-Pack?

Let's face it, one bad day of overhead welding or heavy flux-core can ruin a lens. Buying them one at a time is a hassle and costs more in the long run. This pack of 10 gives you the freedom to swap your lens whenever visibility drops, without worrying about running out. Keep a few in your locker and a few in your bag. Clean lenses mean less eye strain, fewer headaches, and better-looking welds at the end of the shift.

FAQ

This plate is designed specifically for the 3M Speedglas 9000 Series, including the 9002X, 9002V, 9000X, and 9000V models. It does not fit the 9100, 100, or SL series.

This is the OUTSIDE protection plate (part number 02-0270-01). The inside protection plate for the 9000 series is a different part number and size.

This product is sold as a pack of 10 individual protection plates.

You should change it whenever spatter, pits, or scratches obscure your vision. A dirty lens can cause eye strain and may interfere with the helmet's arc sensors.

These are the 'Standard' plates. While durable, they are not the specific 'Scratch Resistant' or 'High Heat' models that 3M also manufactures for extreme conditions.

It is recommended to clean them with mild soap and water or a dedicated lens cleaning solution. Harsh solvents can damage the polycarbonate coating.

Yes, the plate is rated to ANSI/CSA standards for high-velocity impact, protecting the sensitive ADF underneath from sparks and debris.

Check your outer lens. If it is dirty or scratched, it might be blocking the sensors. Replacing the 02-0270-01 plate often solves this issue.
