OVERVIEW

Smooth and Reliable Aluminum Welding with Nexalloy 4043

Take your aluminum welding projects to the next level with Nexalloy 4043 MIG Wire. Known for its ease of use and forgiving characteristics, this wire is a favorite among welders for general fabrication and repairs. The 1.6mm (1/16") diameter is perfect for tackling thicker materials where you need good penetration and a stable arc. Packaged in a substantial 16 lb spool, this product ensures you have plenty of wire on hand for large jobs, whether you are building trailers, repairing engine blocks, or fabricating custom aluminum structures.

Why choose 4043? It's all about the flow. The 5% silicon formula gives the molten puddle excellent fluidity, meaning it flows out smoothly to the toes of the weld. This helps prevent the "ropey" look that can happen with stiffer wires and makes it much easier to achieve a professional-looking bead. It is also the go-to choice for welding 6061-T6 aluminum, the most common structural aluminum alloy, because it resists cracking as the weld cools.

Nexalloy manufactures their wire to strict standards, ensuring consistent diameter and cleanliness. This means fewer feeding problems, less burn-back, and a more stable arc while you work. If you are looking for a versatile wire that produces bright, shiny welds with minimal spatter and cleanup, the Nexalloy 4043 is the reliable solution for your shop.

FAQ

For most applications, 100% Argon is the recommended shielding gas. For thicker sections, an Argon/Helium mixture can be used to increase heat input.

4043 contains silicon, flows better, and resists cracking, making it great for 6000 series alloys. 5356 contains magnesium, is stronger, and is better for anodizing (color match), but has less fluidity.

You need a MIG welder capable of high amperage and a feeding system (like a spool gun or push-pull gun) equipped with the correct drive rolls and liners for 1.6mm (1/16") aluminum wire.

4043 wire will turn a dark gray color after anodizing. If color matching is critical for the final anodized part, 5356 is a better choice.

It is best suited for welding base metals such as 3003, 3004, 5052, 6061, 6063, and cast alloys like 43, 355, 356, and 214.

This is a 16 lb (approx. 7.26 kg) spool.

Yes, when welding aluminum, you should always use a Teflon or plastic liner to prevent wire shaving and friction issues common with steel liners.
