OVERVIEW

Get the Job Done with Nexalloy 4043 Aluminum Wire

When you are welding aluminum, feedability and bead appearance matter. Nexalloy 4043 Aluminum MIG Wire (3/64" diameter) is built to deliver on both fronts. This 16 lb spool is designed for the serious fabricator who needs consistent performance without the hassle of bird-nesting or erratic arcs. The 4043 alloy is famous for its "forgiving" nature; the added silicon makes the puddle flow smoothly, wetting out into the toes of the weld better than almost any other aluminum wire.

This wire is your go-to solution for welding 6061 aluminum, automotive parts, trailers, and bicycle frames. Because it is less sensitive to cracking, it is perfect for rigid structures where the metal cannot expand and contract freely. It also works great on cast aluminum repairs, making it a versatile addition to any shop. The 3/64" size allows for higher amperage welding, letting you lay down metal faster and get projects out the door.

Stop fighting with poor-quality wire that sputters and burns back. Nexalloy's manufacturing process ensures a clean surface finish on the wire itself, which translates to better electrical conductivity and smoother feeding through your MIG gun liner. Pair this with a Teflon liner and pure Argon gas, and you will see the difference in your weld quality immediately. From truck bodies to custom fabrication, trust Nexalloy 4043 to hold it all together.

FAQ

For most applications, 100% Argon is the standard shielding gas. For thicker materials (over 1/2 inch), an Argon/Helium mixture can be used to increase heat input.

While it is possible, ER5356 is generally recommended for 5000 series alloys like 5052 due to better strength match and color match after anodizing. 4043 is best for 6000 series.

This wire is 3/64 inch in diameter, which is approximately 1.2mm (often rounded to 0.047 inches).

4043 wire turns a dark gray color after the anodizing process. If color matching is critical for your project, consider using 5356 wire instead.

You must use U-groove drive rolls specifically designed for aluminum to prevent crushing the soft wire. V-groove rolls will deform the wire and cause feeding issues.

This is a 16 lb spool (typically 12-inch diameter). It fits most industrial wire feeders and larger MIG machines. Smaller hobby welders usually require 1lb or 5lb spools.

4043 flows better (wets out) and is less prone to cracking on heat-treatable alloys like 6061. It also produces a smoother, brighter bead.
