$1,044.60/10 lb tubeThe Inconel 82 (AWS ERNiCr-3) TIG welding rod is a nickel-chromium-iron filler metal designed for gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) of nickel alloys, such as Inconel 600 and Incoloy 800, as well as for joining dissimilar metals. The .093" (2.4mm) diameter provides excellent control for root passes in pipe welding and fill passes in medium-thickness plate. This alloy is characterized by its high strength and exceptional resistance to oxidation and corrosion at elevated temperatures.
ERNiCr-3 is formulated to prevent carbon migration in the weld interface, making it the preferred choice for joining stainless steels to carbon steels or nickel alloys. It is highly resistant to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking and pure water stress-corrosion cracking, making it indispensable in the nuclear and power generation industries. The weld metal exhibits high mechanical properties from cryogenic temperatures up to approximately 900°F (480°C).
Common Base Materials:
To achieve optimal results with Inconel 82, cleanliness is paramount. Base materials should be cleaned of all oil, grease, and oxide skins prior to welding. Use 100% Argon or an Argon/Helium mixture as the shielding gas to ensure a stable arc and prevent atmospheric contamination. A gas lens is recommended to improve gas coverage.
This rod meets AWS A5.14 Class ERNiCr-3 and ASME SFA-5.14 standards. It provides a nominal composition of 72% Nickel, 20% Chromium, 3% Manganese, and 2.5% Niobium (plus Tantalum), which acts as a stabilizer to prevent cracking during solidification.
