Take your welding projects anywhere with the Miller Maxstar® 161 STH TIG/Stick Package. This machine defines "best-in-class" portability, packing 160 amps of DC welding power into a compact 13-pound unit. Whether you are working on a shipboard installation, repairing kitchen equipment, or building a custom project in your garage, the Maxstar 161 STH is designed to go where you go. The included adjustable shoulder strap and rugged X-CASE™ make transport effortless, protecting your investment from the bumps and bruises of travel.
Advanced TIG Features for Precision Welds
Don't let the small size fool you; this welder is loaded with professional features. The "STH" designation means you get High-Frequency starts for clean, non-contact arc initiation, as well as built-in Pulsing capabilities. Pulsed TIG welding allows you to control heat input precisely, making it easier to weld thin stainless steel without warping or burn-through. If you are new to these settings, the Pro-Set™ feature eliminates the guesswork by providing optimized presets, so you can focus on your technique rather than the setup.
Ready for Any Job Site
The Maxstar 161 STH adapts to your power availability with ease. It runs on both 120V and 240V power, using simple swap-out cords that require no tools. Stick welding is just as impressive, with specific settings for 6010 electrodes and Adaptive Hot Start™ to prevent sticking. This package (907711001) comes fully equipped with a fingertip remote control for on-the-fly amperage adjustment, a premium Weldcraft™ TIG torch, and a gas regulator. It is the ultimate grab-and-go solution for the serious welder.

Size does not matter with this machine
Been welding with this machine at my work for a couple years. It doesn't pop breakers like its predecessor. You can actually stick weld without long arching. 220 works much better than 110 but my generator in my feild truck runs this great !
Yes I recommend these to all my contractor friends
I use these on all my job sites industrial and commercial stainless carbon they're great for TIG welding and they run all day long. we do 12-hour days 6 7 days a week and they work fantastic
I would buy this product again.
I use this welder for clean tig welding on steel , galvanized, Stainless metals . we have had 3 of these and they are great.
I would defiantly buy this machine again.
We use this machine for Tig welding food grade milk pipe in our dairy. It works great, and with its small size we can get up into the ceiling to reach pipes needing leak repairs.
Top notch
Very worthy and reliable machine … great performance.. good quality so far
Worth the money
Best little welder I've used. Runs 6010 and 7018 just like my big blue. I've ran a few 309l rods and all have welded great doesn't trip my 20 amp 120v breaker. Easy to use and is convenient for jobs that are next to impossible to get my welding rig into .. great for plant work / mobile welding
Next purchase shall be the maxstar 210 DX
I use this machine in the sanitary welding field. Very compact and very convenient. It gives great output and can handle heavy use on the daily. The pulse on this machine is very convenient for welding stainless steel Pharaohs that can pull if you don't control your heat. Not with this machine.
Best portable DC Tig unit out there.
Great little machine for portable work. The machine this small, lightweight, runs on 110 or 220, has HF and miller build quality. What else is there to say.
I would buy this suitcase welder over and over again.
I would stick and I'm learning how to tig user friendly.
Good purchase
So far I really like the machine wish I could have gotten another maxstar 150stl but this one is doing good
